Welcome to FAWN! Now that you've created your USDC wallet, it's time to add funds. We've made it simple with three easy methods. Pick what works best for you, and you'll be sending money instantly to friends in no time.
π‘ Only $0.01 per transfer
Once you fund your wallet, every transfer to a friend costs just one penny. No hidden fees, no surprises.
Three Simple Ways to Fund
Ask a Friend
The easiest way to get started. Have a friend with USDC send it to your FAWN wallet address.
- Copy your wallet address from FAWN (look for "Copy Address" button in the dashboard)
- Share it with a friend via text, email, or messenger
- Your friend sends you USDC to that address from any wallet (Coinbase, Kraken, MetaMask, etc.)
- Funds appear instantly in your FAWN balance
Transfer from Your Wallet
Already own crypto? Send USDC from your personal wallet (MetaMask, Coinbase, Kraken, etc.) directly to FAWN.
- Go to your wallet app (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Trust Wallet, etc.)
- Find "Send" or "Transfer" option
- Paste your FAWN wallet address (from FAWN dashboard)
- Select USDC as the coin to send
- Enter the amount and confirm the transaction
- Pay network gas fees (usually $0.50β$3 depending on network congestion)
- FAWN receives your USDC within seconds to a few minutes

β Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. FAWN uses industry-standard encryption and security practices:
- Custodial wallets (recommended for beginners): FAWN holds your private key, encrypted and securely stored. You access via your password/PIN. It's like a bank account.
- Non-custodial wallets (for advanced users): You hold your own seed phrase and private key. FAWN never sees it. Maximum security if you protect your seed phrase.
In both cases, your USDC is backed by real stablecoins held in reserve. FAWN cannot spend your money or disappear with funds.
If you have a custodial wallet (FAWN holds your key):
- No problem. You don't need to manage a seed phrase. Just keep your password safe.
- If you forget your password, you can reset it like any other app (email/SMS verification).
If you have a non-custodial wallet (you hold your seed phrase):
- Your seed phrase is your only backup. If you lose it, you lose access to those funds.
- Best practice: Write it down on paper and store in a safe place (not on your phone, not in your email). A metal seed phrase backup kit (~$10) is even safer.
- FAWN cannot recover a lost seed phrase β nobody can. So guard it like you'd guard cash.
Custodial wallet:
- If your password is compromised, reset it immediately via email/phone verification (like Instagram or Gmail).
- FAWN support can help you regain access to your account if you verify your identity.
Non-custodial wallet:
- If you have your seed phrase backed up: you can restore your wallet on any device (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, etc.), even if FAWN goes down.
- If you lost your seed phrase: your funds are unrecoverable. This is why seed phrase security is critical.
Crypto transactions cannot be reversed. Once a transfer is confirmed, it's permanent. Here's how to avoid it:
- Always copy and paste addresses (never type them by hand).
- Double-check the first and last 4 characters of the address match what you expect.
- If sending a large amount, test with a small amount first ($1β$5) and wait for it to arrive before sending the rest.
- When others send you money, share your address via app notification or contact app (not random links or public posts).
If you accidentally send to the wrong address, contact FAWN support with proof. We'll try to help, but the funds may be unrecoverable.
Tax laws vary by country and your specific situation. Here's the general rule:
- Just holding USDC: Typically no tax. It's like holding cash.
- Converting USDC to another cryptocurrency: This might be a taxable event (like selling stock). Consult a tax professional.
- Getting paid in USDC for work: Yes, this is taxable income. Report it like any other payment.
- Sending USDC to friends: Not a taxable event (it's a transfer, not income).
Bottom line: When in doubt, ask a tax professional. FAWN can provide transaction history exports for tax filing.
Great question. The $0.01 per transfer model works because:
- Volume: College students make tons of small transfers (splitting rent, Venmo to friends, etc.). At scale, $0.01 Γ millions of transfers = real revenue.
- Low infrastructure costs: FAWN runs on blockchain/stablecoins, not legacy banking. No expensive compliance, no middlemen.
- Future revenue: Investing features (buy fractional stocks/crypto), international transfers, and subscription perks.
This model lets us stay cheap for you and sustainable for us.
Not yet. Right now, FAWN is a crypto-first app. You can:
- Transfer USDC to any wallet address (MetaMask, Coinbase, Kraken, etc.)
- From your personal wallet, sell USDC for USD and withdraw to your bank account.
Coming soon: Direct bank withdrawal (off-ramp) to make this a one-click process.
Your USDC is always yours.
- Custodial wallet: If FAWN ever shuts down, you can prove ownership and recover your funds with your password/ID verification.
- Non-custodial wallet: Your seed phrase lets you access your funds on any platform (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, etc.), independent of FAWN. FAWN is just the interface.
USDC is a real stablecoin backed by Circle. It exists on the blockchain regardless of whether FAWN is around. Your money is always recoverable.
